True Thanksgiving

11/22/25 True Thanksgiving 1964

Peter Marshall, author of The Light and The Glory, tells how God saved the Pilgrims from shipwreck, starvation and disease. Peter Marshall's extensive research show the Pilgrims weren't witch-hunting, killjoys but people who were colorful, vivacious and filled with joy and celebration. He tells how they came through their starving time (five kernels of corn a day) to reap a wonderful harvest that came to be known as Thanksgiving. Peter Marshall says the Pilgrims didn’t come here for religious freedom, but they came here as missionaries. God brought an English speaking Indian who taught them survival skills. Connie, a 4th grade teacher, reads from the diary of a 12-year-old girl who survived a horrendous voyage on the Mayflower.
